Physiotherapy is a branch of medicine that does not involve the use of drugs. The physiotherapist is therefore a health professional and works in the sector of functional motor rehabilitation and postural re-education, enriching himself with many nuances of techniques and methods.
The work areas concern the anatomy and physiology of the musculoskeletal, nervous, respiratory, cardiovascular and urogenital systems; biochemistry, biology and biomechanics; pathology of physiotherapeutic interest; motor development; kinesiology; methodology of rehabilitation and research; psychology and psychiatry. It can therefore intervene in various fields of action in which osteo-neuromuscular pathologies are encountered such as orthopedics, neurology, rheumatology, geriatrics, cardiology, pulmonology, pediatrics, stomatognathic urology, gynecology and more.
It deals with three aspects of a person’s path that starts with prevention, passes through the treatment of the problem and ends with rehabilitation after a physical trauma or surgery and includes physical, psychological, emotional and social well-being.
